Other than today.... things have been going pretty well!! Company has finally slowed down around here and it has been SO NICE to spend some one-on-one time with our family of 4. I am thankful Blakely has so many people who love him, but sometimes you just need some down time where you can just get to know your baby on a day to day basis. Playing hostess can get a little exhausting on a first time Mom!
Thus far, we have conquered extreme diaper rash * A big THANK YOU shout out to my friend Amy Elliot, who taught me what RESINOL is! Who knew that a magic butt paste existed and could clear up anything from diaper rashes to bug bites! Amy, you are my hero....* breastfeeding, and we are attempting to get rid of a stubborn umbilical cord. Our life, and bath time would be much more pleasant without that thing around! I know many of you have been asking how George has been adjusting to his new little brother.... honestly, I think he just likes the extra company coming around the house !! He doesn't seem phased by the baby, but I do notice that he clings to Jason or me a lot more when the baby has gone down for a nap.
We are headed back to the Dr. in the morning for a weight check. The last time we were there, Blakely weighed in at a whopping 5 lbs and 14 ozs. We are hoping for a big number tomorrow! I know as much as this little guy is eating, he should at least be back to birth weight by now!
Hoping to get some good sleep tonight!! Wish us luck!!!
We had a very stubborn umbilical cord too.. Way more blood and ooze than I was prepared for. I think Collins' finally came off around day 19 and then still had to heal.... Hope the breast feeding is going well! I know how much of a challenge that can be! If you ever need to vent/or have any questions or just want to talk to another mom with a newborn I'm around!
ReplyDeleteGirl, this cord is driving us nuts! Starting a little bleeding tonight and it looks like the end of the cord is pinching the bottom of his belly button. Eek... I am glad we are going back to the dr. tomorrow otherwise I would be a nervous wreck about it. Breastfeeding is going well, pumping is for the birds. I feel like a cow. lol...... I just noticed you had a blog! How did I miss that? Collins is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI was a nervous wreck! We called the doctor like 5 times! Her's did the exact same thing.. I would post a picture, but its pretty greusome. I know what you mean about pumping! It is exhausting! I just started bloging. Thanks to Collins. I'm still very new and have a lot to learn! Hope the doctors visit goes well! Enjoy that beautiful baby boy!
